Job Description

TheHomeMag® , the nation’s leading home improvement print and digital media brand, is seeking a high-level Publisher to lead our Northern California & Northern Nevada markets. This role is for a business leader who thrives on driving revenue, inspiring sales teams, and delivering measurable results.

As Publisher, you will combine strategic business oversight with sales coaching to ensure financial success and team development. We’re looking for someone who’s more than just a manager – someone who motivates, mentors, and drives success. This is NOT an entry level position. 10+ years experience in sales, business and/or finance are required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve or exceed  revenue goals and EBITDA targets , ensuring strong financial performance.
  • Meet production and publishing deadlines while maintaining magazine quality.
  • Lead  sales activities and team productivity  for the local magazine through coaching rather than micro-managing. 
  • Recruit, train, and develop new sales personnel , fostering a high-performing culture.
  • Prepare and analyze  weekly and monthly sales reports  to ensure targets are met.
  • Monitor financials , manage budgets, and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Approve local advertising contracts to align with company objectives.
  • Mentor sales personnel  through coaching and ride-alongs.
  • Stay updated on  clients’ business needs and industry trends .
  • Oversee  production standards and delivery , maintaining excellent relationships with USPS.
  • Represent TheHomeMag  at industry events, trade shows, and corporate conferences.
  • Utilize  CRM tools and data analytics  to drive performance and strategy.

  • Experienced in publishing, media, and advertising operations .
  • Proven track record of  high-level sales performance and financial management .
  • Strong background in  coaching, objection handling, and problem-solving .
  • Skilled in  large account management and digital sales growth .
  • Comfortable with  spreadsheets, CRM systems, and data analysis .
  • Energetic, results-driven, and focused on team success.
