Job Description

A climbing harness brand started by two young passionate climbers in the garage of North Vancouver have been creating outdoor gears for the athletes together with athletes over decades now. Working with the athletes is the core of our value and this newly created Sport Marketing Manager position is to cater that purpose.

Arc’teryx Japan team is seeking a passionate and experienced sports marketing manager to lead the athlete portfolio development, as well as overseeing community strategy and KOL strategy. Through those initiatives, we want to grow Arc’teryx brand awareness and improve guest engagement.

Roles &Responsibilities

  • Athletes/ambassador relationship
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Arc'teryx sports marketing strategy that aligns with global direction and the overall business objectives.
  • To plan and execute athletes push promotion throughout year.
  • To control and maintain athletes, influencers, and community ambassador portfolio.
  • To be responsible for contract control with athletes, influencers, and community ambassadors.
  • To always actively seek for target assets to strengthen the athlete portfolio.
  • To stay connected with global Sports Marketing team to reflect the global best practices into Japanese retail environment.
  • To take care of the global athletes visit in Japan.
  • Event Planning
  • To be in charge of planning events, optimizing our assets.
  • To initiate mid-term planning of our Academy event in Japan.
  • To manage the contractors (agencies and production companies) and always to seek the best player in the field.
  • Key Relationships
  • Global: Sports Marketing and Brand Marketing departments
  • Local: Wholesale Sales, Retail Marketing, Merchandising, Brand Marketing
  • External partners: agencies and production companies
  • KPIs
  • Athlete Events
  • Retail and wholesale activation
  • Customer engagement metrics
  • Compliance to marketing budget guidelines
  • Annual and monthly marketing budget forecast accuracy

Requirements

  • Education: 4-year bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Art & Design or a related field.
  • Work experience: 7+ years of experience in sport marketing, with a proven track record of success
  • Language skills: Proficiency in Japanese and English (both written and spoken) is required.

  • Strong communication, Presentation, and Collaboration skills
  • Proven ability to manage the relationship with athletes and ambassadors
  • Punctuality/ Positive mindset
  • Ability to resolve conflict and manage disagreements
  • Quick learner (Open to feedback from colleagues and managers)
