ABOUT THE ROLE
Holcim US, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Skid Steer Operator to support the operations in the Asphalt division. This position will be responsible for Monitoring, directing and coordinating activities of project personnel to ensure projects progress are on schedule and within prescribed budget. Coordinates and collaborates with Project Manager, other Superintendent's, other Project Managers, General Contractors and the customer to implement successful project plans. Also scheduling, coordinating and supervising the work of all site operatives, ensuring that all work is delivered safely on time and within budget along with managing equipment and materials required.


WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Operate Skid Steer for Asphalt Application
  • Efficiently drive and control the skid steer to assist with spreading, grading, or moving asphalt on roadways or construction sites.
  • Assist in Asphalt Placement and Compaction
  • Use attachments such as a bucket or planer to level or compact asphalt material to meet project specifications.
  • Load asphalt or other materials from trucks or stockpiles and transport them to designated areas for paving or other site operations.
  • Perform routine maintenance on the skid steer, checking fluid levels, tires, and other components to ensure optimal performance.
  • Assist the paving team by moving materials, clearing debris, or preparing areas for paving by smoothing surfaces or filling gaps.
  • Follow safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and keep the work area clear of hazards.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Field of Study Preferred: N/A
Required Work Experience: Minimum 2 years
Travel Requirements: Daily Travel required
  • Proficient in operating skid steers and related attachments (buckets, sweepers, forks, etc.)
  • Knowledge of asphalt paving processes and job site operations
  • Basic mechanical skills for daily equipment checks and minor maintenance
  • Understanding of grading, leveling, and material handling
  • Ability to read and follow site plans or supervisor instructions
  • Strong awareness of safety protocols and ability to operate around other equipment and crews
  • Physical stamina to work outdoors in varying weather and handle physically demanding tasks
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed
  • Clear communication skills to coordinate with crew members and supervisors
  • Problem-solving skills to address minor equipment or operational issues on the job
Additional Requirements:
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
