How will you contribute?

The Senior Events Coordinator is responsible for organizing and coordinating a variety of high-profile activities (in-person and virtual) as it relates to SENgage, the Senate’s youth engagement initiative, and external parliamentary simulations. The incumbent must plan the rollout, coordinate activities, and engage with various stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure the success of these events and maximize positive promotion of the program. The incumbent leads the planning and execution of major signature events, such as Model Senate, which involve coordinating with a wide range of stakeholders and ensuring seamless project management. 

In addition to event coordination, the incumbent takes a leadership role in strategic planning and promotion of the SENgage program to enhance visibility and engagement.

The general public to staff one (1) indeterminate full-time position in the Communications, Broadcasting, and Debates Directorate.

Prerequisites

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or related field of study or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience related to the position .
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the communications or education fields.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in planning and coordinating events (in-person and virtual).
  • Experience in strategic planning and promotion, particularly with digital communications such as eNewsletters, web content and social media platforms.
  • Experience in preparing reports and analyzing data to measure event and program outcomes.
  • Experience in stakeholder relationship management.
  • Experience developing educational content and products, an asset.
  • Knowledge of the theories, principles, methods and industry best practices pertaining to communications and journalism.
  • Knowledge of Parliament and the Canadian political landscape.
