Job Description Summary:
The laboratory of Dr. Lauren Woodie is looking for a full-time Research Assistant in the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Dr. Woodie’s lab investigates the neural control of circadian metabolism in mouse models of human disease (
We are looking for a skilled and highly motivated individual to provide research support by assisting with experiments in a controlled laboratory environment. The Research Assistant will be directly trained and supervised by Dr. Woodie and work closely with her on a daily basis. The Research Assistant can expect to receive mentoring and guidance from the PI to advance their career in academic, industrial, and private research. They will work with other researchers in the lab to support a collaborative research environment. Once trained, the primary job functions will require exercising independent judgment. Responsibilities include:• Assist in animal husbandry and maintaining mouse lines using ear tagging and genotyping according to PI instructions.
• Assist in mouse survival surgery and post-operative care. .
• Assist in basic mouse experiments such as body weight monitoring.
• Assist in mouse tissue harvest and processing.
• Assist in maintaining lab organization and stocks of buffers, solutions, and aliquots for research activity in the lab.
• Assist in performing protein, DNA, RNA isolation and quantification.
• Assist in microscopy experiments and data processing.
• Performs other work-related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the PI from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
